To confirm school education, all necessary documents must be translated into German and notarised with an Apostille.
Another mandatory condition for obtaining higher education in Austria is the availability of a certificate confirming the level of proficiency in German. In most universities, only students with a level of no lower than C1 are admitted to study. If the applicant has an A2 level, he may be offered to enter a preparatory program (depending on the conditions of the particular educational institution).

Education in Austria is a step that should be prepared for in advance. It is recommended to start the process of paperwork early, ideally a year before the actual start date of your studies at the chosen university. If possible, start this process even earlier.
Both summer and winter semesters operate in Austrian higher education institutions. The summer semester starts on March 1, and the winter semester – on October 1. The dates for submitting documents may vary in different universities, but the deadlines for submission are usually similar. Applications for the summer semester are usually submitted by February 5, and for the winter semester – by September 5. In some universities the deadlines may be different, so it is reasonable to contact them for consultations in advance.
This is possible if you already speak German at the C1 level. However, we recommend starting your studies through preparatory courses at Look Akademie, as our students have access to a wealth of resources and guidance for more effective exam preparation.
To achieve the minimum level of proficiency in German, you actually don’t need to spend a lot of time, especially if you don’t do it on your own. Take advantage of our support and join the intensive German language program from level A1 to B2. Our students will undergo a specially designed intensive program, successfully pass certification and the ÖSD exam.
Yes, however, competition for English-taught programs in Austrian public universities is usually very high, or admission may only be possible at private universities that charge excessive fees. Therefore, we recommend that applicants simultaneously apply for German-language programs to minimise risks during admission.
